speech recognition spell it

Hi, I've been trying to use speech recognition but I have a massive problem.
Often when I say words it doesn't know what I'm saying, this is fair enough. But when I go into the correction box it won't let me spell it. If i say 'spell it' then it thinks I want it to type 'spell it'. Even if i say 'I'll spell it myslef', nine variations of 'I'll spell it myself' pop up in the box. I cant even click the 'I'll spell it myself' hyperlink.
Is this broken? do i need to reinstall vista?
Any help would be great.

Do you have your system set for UK English or non US-English?
There are known issues with the spell it feature with non US-English settings.
